01.11.2026 - Birthday party with a wet surprise 🎂💦

On Wednesday we celebrated the birthdays of our October babies – including Moody and me! 🙃

Of course there was cake, singing, and everyone had a great time. But oh my goodness – I also got to experience a Tanzanian tradition…

A very special birthday christening 💦

On birthdays, people get doused with water. But not necessarily just clean water! Since we'd eaten fries that evening, even the dirty potato water was saved. Moody and I were properly "baptized" with it – and then lovingly rubbed with sand afterwards.

As a little bonus, there was no electricity that evening, so only cold water for showering. 😏

It was a huge amount of fun, of course – not just for the children, but also for the guys who work for us. Everyone had a great time and lots of laughs!
