On the last Sunday of the month, it was that time again: we celebrated our children's birthdays. This time, Moody and I were allowed to join in too – much to the children's delight. They could hardly wait to "baptize" us with water according to Tanzanian tradition. The excitement was immense, and we were soaking wet within seconds! 😄

Before the water fight, there was of course cake – a particularly delicious one, baked for us by my friends Jeannette and Cornelia. The children devoured it in no time.

Games, tasks and lots of fun

The children made soap bubbles, did their chores, and enjoyed playing outside. It's so wonderful to see how much energy and joy they radiate. Our Glory attends a boarding school further away. We visited her – it was the first time I'd been able to meet her in person. Her two little sisters were overjoyed when I showed them the photos after our return.

Aftermath of the unrest

Many of you have heard about the recent unrest. Fortunately, it wasn't very noticeable in rural areas. However, the rising food prices are hitting us hard: many products have doubled, quadrupled, or even increased tenfold in price. This is naturally putting a strain on our daily lives. We sincerely hope that the situation will soon return to normal.

Despite everything, the children give us courage and reason to smile every day. Their resilience is impressive – and it constantly reminds us what we stand for here.
