23.10.2025 - Homework, games and lots of heart ❤️

Here in Arusha, too, it's time to do homework! 📚 The children sit together in concentration, and our moms and night watchman Edward patiently help. Even the little ones are eagerly participating – they practice on their little slates and are incredibly proud of themselves.

Learn and laugh through play 🎲

Of course, there's plenty of playtime too! At one point, the children had to guess another child's voice while blindfolded – and the amazing thing was: out of 43 children, there weren't even two mistakes! 👏Another game provides particularly exciting suspense: A half-full water bottle is thrown up in the air and is supposed to land upright – two children actually managed it! 🥳

They often tell each other stories, and in between, our mom Lucy and Uncle Sam make sure everyone is moving – dancing, playing, and laughing are simply part of everyday life.

Help and share together

The children also help with daily tasks—whether cooking, preparing meals, or washing up. And in between, there's something sweet: cookies! 🍪 These treats usually come from gifts given by visitors.

Our Tanzanian neighbors regularly bring us sugar, rice, flour, soap, oil, toothpaste, juices, and biscuits – a huge support.

We also receive children's clothing from Swiss families, and I, too, travel with two suitcases full of clothes. Recently, we sorted through five suitcases: Each child was allowed to choose one or two new items of clothing, and the rest were carefully stored. This is important because new children keep coming to us who don't have any clothes of their own and arrive with only what they're wearing.

That's why we're incredibly grateful that our warehouse is well-stocked—and eight more suitcases are already waiting at home, ready for transport to Tanzania. 🎒
