School started again for the children after Easter, and we were able to accompany them. As always after the holidays, the first day of school doesn't begin directly with lessons: first, the garden is weeded and the classrooms are thoroughly cleaned. Therefore, the children have to be there early enough so that lessons can start promptly at 8 a.m.

Learning under special conditions

There are an incredible 94 children in the so-called "baby class." It's clear that not all of them can learn at the same pace. A child only moves on to first grade once they can read – and their progress varies accordingly.

For this reason, we also provide additional support for the younger children in the mornings at our House of Happiness. This allows them to learn basic skills in a calmer environment and prepares them specifically for school. They are always incredibly proud – it's something very special for them to be allowed to go to "school" even at this early stage.

Support in everyday life

Our team is currently being supported by an intern who is training to be a social worker and is with us for two months. In addition to various tasks, she is also taking on some of the teaching duties and is contributing with great enthusiasm.
